Hi all,
A social media platform that I use almost everyday is youtube. I love watching movies and TV shows but often I don't have time to watch a movie or a full episode. During short breaks I have during the week, I enjoy being able to watch a quick youtube video.
One series on youtube that I like is called It's Alive. It is a series run by food magazine Bon Appétit in which this guy named Brad cooks or learns about organic foods. I enjoy this show because Brad is quite quirky and the editor makes all these animations and edits to make the show engaging and funny. I think this is interesting because even though these videos are instructional videos, I actually have no interest in really making these foods. It is the relationship between Brad and the editor Vinny is what actually makes the show interesting to me.

YouTube is also a favourite of mine as I am able to access a wide variety of content that I don't typically have access too. For example, I love The Ellen show but because I don't have cable TV I am unable to watch her episodes, luckily for YouTube you don't have to miss out. I also use YouTube for educational purposes including research for papers. For a summer course I had to write a paper about the visual styles employed in Spider-Man the movie versus the comic. YouTube was extremely insightful, as many users had filmed their own reviews on the movie and original comic, which I could then use to support my ideas when writing. I would agree that YouTube is a good stress reliever because of its short videos and people also have an avenue to express their music, thoughts, lifestyles etc. Lots of people tend to find inspiration from YouTube because of the large about of content that is readily available.
ReplyDeleteYouTube is for sure one of the most available and wide spread sources for video content on the internet, you can watch nearly any kind of content all at the tip of your fingers and you can watch it on your time. From what you said with food to what Rachel said about educational purposes there is honestly a little bit of everything for everyone. I agree with you fully that it is nice to be able to watch in short breaks but still get the full enjoyment out of it!
