Blog Post #1 - YouTube & Travel Vlogs

Hi Everyone,

Over the past few years, the social media platform YouTube has been a major part of my daily life. Whenever I have downtime during my day, it has almost become a ‘ritual’ for me to watch a YouTube video (or a few sometimes when I fall down the YouTube rabbit hole…). I find YouTube videos, particular lifestyle and travel vlogs, really interesting to watch as I love discovering new things about places/people/food and their content allows me to explore new areas of the world within my daily life.  Just this past summer, the constant viewing of travel vlogs inspired me to finally have an adventure of mine own by traveling to Japan which ended up being an amazing trip! I utilized a lot of tips I learnt from watching these different travel lifestyle vloggers, and I visited many places I would’ve never known about if it hadn’t been for these various travel YouTubers.

One particular channel I’ve been watching recently Is called JoanDay, who is a lifestyle vlogger based in LA and Seoul, South Korea. Joan posts daily/weekly vlogs of her various adventures as she moved from LA to South Korea. She also showcases her exploring during her trips to England, Thailand, Osaka and Jakarta which is interesting to watch. Her content is always positive and motivates me to continuously learn new things about different places and constantly introduces me to new foods/places that are definitely on my bucket list now!

Here is a link to her first vlog from her series Joan365, which is from last year when she first became a daily vlogger. Hope you enjoy watching her content, and let me know if you have any recommendations of other travel youtubers. I’m always searching for new channels, especially food ones!

  1. Hello!
I really enjoyed reading your blog on how you like to watch Youtube and how you have found it to be even a major part of your life as I feel the same about Youtube for myself. I took this opportunity to check out the new “vlogger” that you recommended and reviewed some of her most popular videos. I love her personality and the way she goes about portraying herself and the positive energy that she gives off is just amazing. You mentioned you did some traveling of your own which is SO amazing! My question is if you caught any of your travels on video and if you would one day be interested in making a channel like JoanDay, to share those adventures with the world.
    Thanks so much for sharing!

  2. Hi Brittany! As a YouTube fan myself I will definitely have to check out Joan's channel. I think its so cool how watching her channel inspired an adventure for you! I love watching travel vlogs too because its as if you're there with them (especially since drones and gopros are so popular these days) and are able to view the world without even leaving your bedroom. You should check out Alex Chacon's videos, he does a bunch of travel vlogs and exploratory videos.
